About the Role
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Restoration Engineer / Project Manager to lead and manage structural restoration projects involving critical building components such as beams and columns. This hybrid role requires a strong technical background in structural engineering, combined with proven project management capabilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing restoration work from initial assessment and structural analysis through to execution and completion.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead restoration engineering projects with a focus on structural integrity, safety, and code compliance.
Assess structural damage and deterioration in beams, columns, and other load-bearing elements; develop repair and reinforcement strategies.
Perform detailed structural calculations and prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
Manage all phases of restoration projects, including budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication.
Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure seamless project execution and high-quality outcomes.
Monitor site activities and conduct regular inspections to verify compliance with engineering designs and safety standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or in progress.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural restoration and project management.
Proficiency in structural analysis software and engineering calculations.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Experience working with both modern and historic building materials is a plus.
Requirements
Restoration Engineering Expertise: In-depth knowledge of restoration techniques for aging or damaged structural elements, including historical and modern materials, with a focus on extending the lifespan of buildings.
Project Management Skills: Proven ability to manage restoration projects from planning through execution—coordinating teams, schedules, budgets, and client communications to ensure successful project delivery.
Structural Component Focus (Beams & Columns): Strong understanding of structural behavior and deterioration patterns in key load-bearing elements such as beams and columns, including experience in assessing damage and specifying appropriate repair or reinforcement methods.
Structural Calculations Proficiency: Ability to perform precise structural calculations to evaluate load capacities, design reinforcements, and ensure compliance with engineering codes and safety standards during restoration projects.
