About the Role

Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing team. This entry-level role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals looking to build a strong foundation in electrical engineering. You will assist senior engineers with the design of electrical and fire alarm systems, ensure code compliance, and gain hands-on experience with project development and technical standards such as NFPA 70 and NFPA 72.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the design and drafting of electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and fire alarm layouts.

Assist in reviewing project plans, specifications, and code compliance (particularly NFPA 70 and NFPA 72).

Perform calculations, prepare documentation, and contribute to technical reports and submittals.

Collaborate with senior engineers, designers, and cross-functional teams on various project phases.

Learn and use design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical load analysis software.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.

E.I.T. certification preferred or the ability to obtain it within 12 months.

Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles and building system design.

Familiarity with or interest in NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 72 (Fire Alarm Code).

Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.

Requirements

  • E.I.T. Certification or Eligibility – Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required; Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) certification preferred or ability to obtain it within 12 months.

  • Foundational Electrical Design Knowledge – Basic understanding of electrical system design, including lighting, power distribution, and fire alarm systems.

  • Familiarity with NFPA Codes – Exposure to or coursework involving NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 72 (Fire Alarm Code); willingness to gain deeper expertise.

  • Technical Software Skills – Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design tools used in electrical drafting and modeling.

  • Team-Oriented and Eager to Learn – Strong communication skills, willingness to take direction, and enthusiasm for developing technical and project management skills under senior guidance.
