About the Role
Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and licensed Electrical Design Engineer to lead our electrical engineering department. This role involves overseeing the design and development of electrical systems across a variety of projects, ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards, and mentoring junior engineers. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 72 (Fire Alarm Code), along with a proven track record in both technical design and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the electrical design team in planning, designing, and reviewing power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including NFPA 70 and NFPA 72.
Oversee quality control and technical accuracy across all phases of project development.
Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) and seal engineering drawings as required.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers within the department.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Active and valid Professional Engineer (PE) license in electrical engineering.
Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical system design, including fire alarm systems.
Deep knowledge of NFPA 70 and NFPA 72 and their application in real-world projects.
Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams and project delivery.
Requirements
Professional Engineer (PE) License Required – Must hold a current and valid PE license in electrical engineering, with experience leading design teams or departments.
Electrical Design Expertise – Proven experience in the design of electrical systems for commercial, industrial, or institutional projects, including power distribution, lighting, and control systems.
Knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) – Strong understanding and practical application of NFPA 70 standards in electrical system design and compliance.
Knowledge of NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code) – Working knowledge of fire alarm system design and compliance requirements according to NFPA 72.
Leadership Experience – Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams, manage project timelines, and ensure quality and code compliance in electrical design deliverables.
